north

I travelled north into the unknown
It begun as just another long solo voyage
Unexpectedly, or perhaps not, I was not alone
The temptation to stay was an untried emotion

The solitary pleasure of the rover was broken.
The sardonic cruel winds never brought me south to Lisbon
My veranda over the Atlantic gathers salt and dust
Now, no longer a wanderer, I know only one destination

Wherever you are, that is my next port of call
Away from you the company of others is meaningless
I appreciate the destination, no longer only the journey
So, for the first time I can truly feel the loneliness.
