M. Daedalus - POETRY / POESIA

angel on death row

Dear child of mine,
Today I learned of your existence.
Only to be told that you are on death row.
No crime committed or attempted.
Denied trial or appeal.

Dear child of mine,
Your voice will never be heard.
Solely a death sentence.
Form of execution: suction.
Refused the right to burial rites.

Dear child of mine,
Incarnating injustice,
Deprived of the dignity of a name.
A soul to die before it is born.
Iím left to plead for a stay of execution.

Dear child of mine,
Tears are shed for you,
But, no one will ever kiss you,
Your father will always love you.
Dear child of mine, is God blind?
